Grades & Varieties Available:

Grades:

  • Grade A – This is the highest quality grade of black peppercorns, with a uniform size, shape, and color. They are also free from defects and have a sweet taste.
  • Grade B – This grade of black peppercorns, may have some minor defects such as discoloration or uneven sizes, but they are still suitable for use in baking and cooking.

Varieties:

  • Tellicherry Garbled Extra Bold (TGEB) – This is the highest quality of black pepper available and is considered the king of black peppers. It is named after the port of Tellicherry (now known as Thalassery) in the Indian state of Kerala, where it was first exported from. TGEB has large, bold peppercorns with a rich aroma, a fruity flavor, and a minimum of 4.25 mm diameter.
  • Malabar Garbled Bold (MGB) – This is another high-quality black pepper variety grown in the Malabar region of Kerala. The peppercorns are slightly smaller than TGEB and have a milder flavor.
  • Malabar Garbled (MG1) – This grade of black pepper is smaller in size and has a slightly darker color than MGB. It has a strong flavor and aroma.
  • Malabar Ungarbled (MG2)–This is a lower grade of black pepper that is unsorted and contains a mixture of broken, whole, and immature peppercorns. It is commonly used in processed foods and has a pungent, bitter taste..
  • Tellicherry –This is a lower grade of black pepper that is slightly smaller than TGEB and has a slightly less pungent flavor.
  • Coorg –This is a variety of black pepper grown in the Coorg region of Karnataka. It has a distinct aroma and a mild, sweet flavor.
  • Waynad –This is a variety of black pepper grown in the Waynad region of Kerala. It has a strong, pungent flavor and is commonly used in Indian cuisine.
