Saffron
Iranian, Spanish and Kashmiri saffron, Grade I through III.
Kashmiri saffron carries the strongest reputation among the three origins and is priced accordingly — deep red-purple stigmas with a distinctive aroma that buyers who know the category ask for by name. Iranian saffron supplies most of the global market by volume at a more accessible price point across the same three grades. Spanish saffron sits between the two, generally milder in color intensity.
Grade I is all-red stigma with no yellow style attached — the specification that determines potency and color strength; Grade II and III carry progressively more yellow style, which dilutes both. Ask for the grade specification explicitly, not just origin, when comparing our quote to another supplier's.
